If you've always set your lineups on gut feel, moving to a data-driven approach can feel intimidating. It shouldn't. The core ideas are simple, and you can start using them in your very first session.
Start with the projection, but read the range
A projection is an estimate of how a player is likely to perform. The single number is useful, but the range around it, the floor and the ceiling, tells you what kind of night to expect. A steady player with a high floor is a safe choice; a volatile one with a high ceiling is a swing for upside.
Opportunity is everything
More than talent alone, opportunity drives production. Who is getting the minutes, the touches, the chances? When a starter sits, the player absorbing that role often becomes far more valuable overnight. Keeping an eye on opportunity is the fastest way to find value.
Let the tool do the busywork
You don't need to memorize matchups or crunch numbers by hand. That's what Benchlytics is for. Use the projections and the optimizer to narrow the field quickly, then apply your own judgment to the final calls. The goal is to spend less time on math and more time on decisions.
